Turning Point positions the shoe as an active site of orientation, treating the foot as a director of choice rather than a passive support. The work intervenes in the visual language of footwear by replacing conventional brand identity with embossed text, using words as agents that redirect attention toward decision‑making and agency.
Produced on a traditional foil embossing press, the gold typography operates as both surface and instruction. Rather than advertising an external authority, the text proposes a moment of internal reorientation, where the wearer is prompted to consider the implications of movement, pause, or change in direction.
Constructed from recycled shoe components, the work brings past use histories into dialogue with future possibility. Turning Point frames footwear as a device for reflection and resolve, where transformation is neither promised nor guaranteed, but invited.
