Walking in Circles

Walking in Circles positions the shoe not as a passive object but as an index of action. Arranged into a closed, looping form, the work abstracts the mechanics of walking into a static sequence, holding motion in suspension while denying forward progress.
The circular configuration references gait, rhythm, and repetition, translating locomotion into a diagram of persistence without outcome. Walking is presented as a psychological as well as physical condition, an activity that, when detached from destination, becomes charged with affect and endurance.
Operating between sculpture and performance, the work suggests action as something rehearsed and sustained. The form frames movement as attentive repetition, where mobility persists independently of destination.
